Kate + Reese met while in college at Indiana University. They were a part of the same friend groups in college and soon hit it off! While their love bloomed in Indiana, Reese planned a special surprise proposal during Dad's weekend at IU! It was the perfect cover up to having their families be able to be present for the proposal! Kate and Reese quickly decided that they wanted to do their engagement photos in Chicago! We picked the Art Institute of Chicago for their engagement photos!

When we talked with these two about where they wanted to do their engagement photos, Kate and Reese knew they wanted some place that felt like Chicago but wasn't too "typical'. As their engagement photo session date got closer, we realized that the weather was not going to cooperate. But we still wanted to find some of that classic Chicago architecture. So we had to re-brainstorm and come up with a new plan.

Kate and Reese wanted something with a modern feel and we knew just the spot - the beautiful Art Institute of Chicago. With the gorgeous white walls, artwork and stunning spiral staircase, the photos turned out practically perfect. Kate and Reese, giggled and smiled their way through the halls of the galleries without a care in the world.

We made sure to not only get some photos inside but we strolled outside to capture the iconic architecture of Chicago. The rooftop terrace was the perfect spot for an outfit change in order to capture the Chicago skyline (that view never gets old). We can't wait to be a part of their wedding and capture even more of their love and joy! These Art Institute of Chicago engagement photos just can't be beat if you're looking for a beautiful modern space that is indoors!

When Abbey and Tim reached out to us about their engagement session we knew that finding a place to commemorate their favorite city in the world, Chicago, was key! These two love getting to explore the food and brewery scene throughout Chicago, watch True Detective with their two cats and take walks together through the city but their wedding was going to be back in Boston. After chatting with them over the phone, we decided that Chicago Riverwalk engagement photos would be the perfect spot to have the city of Chicago shine in the spotlight!

First we headed to a pizza place in their neighborhood in River North that was right around the corner from their apartment called Roberta's. We always suggest calling ahead when you're doing these special parts of your engagement session to be sure that we get beautiful photos. We asked for a table by the windows and for pizza to be ready to go when we arrived! After grabbing a quick slice (and some adorable photos) we headed down to the riverwalk for the rest of the session!

The riverwalk is the perfect spot for engagement photos because there is such variety of architecture to play with. From bridges to stairways to long stretches of white sidewalk, there is nothing that you can't do at the riverwalk! And of course, if you head there after rush hour on a week day, you'll have the whole place practically to yourself for these romantic photos!

It was such a fun session and we loved getting to showcase one of our favorite spots in Chicago (and isn't the river just gorgeous in the summer)! We just love when couples embrace the neighborhood they live in. It makes for such an amazing memory that is captured to remember for the years to come!

When Rachel and Brian booked us for their wedding they new immediately they wanted engagement photos! As we chatted about what they were looking for in terms of location, I quickly figured out that these would be a Montrose Harbor engagement session! Montrose Harbor is the perfect spot in Chicago to get a little bit of everything the city has to offer - the beautiful skyline, lakefront views, the pier and a gorgeous walking path with seasonal wildflowers.

Because their engagement session was in early September, we were able to wait till 6:45pm to start their engagement session (hello 9pm sunset!). We made sure to find that gorgeous golden-hour light and position Rachel and Brian in the perfect spots to catch that glow. We of course grabbed some classic photos of them smiling at the camera but we also positioned they and let them just be, well, them!

One of our favorite lines is to ask, if you were snuggle into one another, what would you do? It creates this precious moment that is one hundred percent authentically something that you would do as a couple in real life! That's how we make sure that your photos actually reflect who you are. You won't leave your engagement session feeling awkward. You'll leave feeling excited and like you just had a super fun time together (it's basically like a mini date night)!

We of course couldn't help but wander over the the lake and take some pictures along the pier. It's the perfect spot to capture the essence of Chicago. Does that skyline ever get old? We don't think so!

We just can't wait to photograph Rachel and Brian's wedding this year at the beautiful Madonna della Strada Chapel at Loyola! But in the meantime, this Montrose Harbor Engagement Session just can't be beat!
